I teach courses related to secondary education, including an ongoing seminar in the Community of Teachers licensure program.  I teach doctoral courses in Curriculum Studies, including a seminar exploring preservice teacher socialization and a topical seminar entitled "Dialogue and Difference: Ethics, Religion, and Democracy in Education."

I also teach the capstone seminar for the Political and Civic Engagement (PACE) certificate program through the College of Arts and Sciences, and hold an adjunct appointment in Philosophy of Education through the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.

My scholarship examines the intersection of education, religion, and citizenship, particularly in the context of K-12 education in the United States.  I have spent the last eight years focusing intensively on the phenomenon of homeschooling--its various philosophies, practices, and policies.  My book on the topic--Write These Laws on Your Children: Inside the World of Conservative Christian Homeschooling--is available from Beacon Press (http://www.beacon.org/productdetails.cfm?PC=2047).
